A Video Game Penis Made Kanye West Who He Is Today

I'm gonna let you finish but...

Think drawing dicks or playing pornographic video games is a waste of time? Think again. Turns out, Kanye West got his start making beats while designing a Mario-like video games with a penis as the main character.

In an interview with Details, West recounts days spent designing video games in seventh grade. And like any child going through the outrageous hormonal swings of puberty, he used whatever was at hand as an outlet for his um… pent up energy.

1173391“My game was very sexual. The main character was, like, a giant penis. It was like Mario Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas,” West said. “You’d have to draw in and program every little step—it literally took me all night to do a step, ’cause the penis, y’know, had little feet and eyes.”

According to West, he had a strong sexual addiction flourish at a young age. He doesn’t view this as problematic, however, since he believes it’s through channeling that uh… passion… into his passions that has allowed him to get where he is today. The very first beat he ever made, in fact, was for the soundtrack of this erotic video game. As he matured, Kanye began focusing more and more on the music, rather than the video games (although game design is still very much a part of his life).

West isn’t alone in the belief that channeling his sexual energy towards other avenues can lead to success. There is a large presence of practitioners who believe that the “reward mechanisms” that our body directs towards the pursuit of sex can be redirected towards other pursuits. This means that rather than focusing your energy on finding someone to get down and dirty with, you can buckle down and focus on achieving your goals.Kanye West Yeezy Season 3 - Runway

In the end, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that it was while designing this video game that Kanye West’s first beat was born. After all, put a tiny penis and vagina clouds together and something weird is bound to pop out eventually.
